✈️ Roam Notes: Prepping for a Solo Escape to Montreal

Wellness, but make it carry-on approved.

💬 The 72-Hour Reset (That Hasn’t Happened Yet)

Hey friend 💛

I’m about to head off on a quick solo trip to Montreal—just 72 hours with one of my closest friends and zero agenda (except croissants, connection, and maybe a little vintage shopping). I haven’t even packed yet, but I already know this trip will be a reset I didn’t realize I needed.

Short trips—when done with intention—can spark so much:
🧠 mental clarity
🌿 nervous system calm
💡 creative inspiration

In this first edition of Roam Notes, I’m giving you a peek at what I’m packing, planning, and preparing… plus a few of my favorite travel rituals.

💪 Airport or Hotel Room Workout (No Gear, No Noise)

Here’s what I do when my body’s begging for movement but I’m stuck at Gate 18 or a hotel room with creaky floors.

5-Minute Reset Flow

  1. Standing cat/cow x 5

  2. Forward fold, slow roll-up x 3

  3. Standing lunge, each side x 3 breaths

  4. Chair pose pulses x 10

  5. Calf raises x 15

  6. Shoulder + neck rolls x 3

  7. 5 rounds of box breathing (4 in / 6 out)

Bonus: Do it near a window. Sunlight + movement = instant lift.

🥨 Airport Snack Guide: What to Pack & What to Skip

Let’s be real—airport food is usually overpriced and underwhelming.

Pack these instead:
✅ Banana + almond butter packet
✅ Hard boiled eggs + grapes
✅ Coconut water or herbal tea
✅ Trail mix (DIY with nuts, seeds, a few dark chocolate chips)

Avoid:
🚫 Sweet granola bars (hidden sugar bombs)
🚫 Flavored lattes (caffeine crash incoming)
🚫 Airport “protein cookies” (just candy in disguise)
🚫 Most premade wraps (look healthy, feel heavy)

Pro tip: Bring a reusable thermos and ask for hot water at any cafe.

👓 Why Blue Light Glasses Are a Travel MVP

I never watch a show or movie on a flight without these.

Here’s why:

📱 Blue light from screens suppresses melatonin = harder to fall asleep later
😵‍💫 It also increases eye strain + headaches (no thanks)
😴 Blockers help preserve your circadian rhythm if you're flying across time zones

Look for:

  • Amber-tinted lenses

  • Lightweight design

  • Bonus: anti-glare coating
